Pride of Britain

In ongoing project Pride of Britain, Jade captures raw and authentic portraits of the UK’s LGBTQIA+ communities and grassroots pride movements. Working up and down the country, Jade's goal is to grow the project, over the course of ten years, in to an enduring archive of work that shows how diverse and multi-faceted queer identity is in Britain today.

"The goal is to create a broad and meaningful body of work that illustrates how Pride is not limited to one month, but is a continuous and interconnected network of smaller communities."

Hand-printing every image in the darkroom, the images take on a tender physicality, with the slow, deliberate printing process mirroring the care and commitment required to protect and sustain safe spaces for marginalized people. The project was launched with a celebratory exhibition, party, and performances taking place at Photo Book Cafe, in July 2025.

"These grassroots movements form mini families, reduce stigma, and promote the well-being and mental health of the queer and trans populations in the UK today."
