ESEA Women

Originally pitched to The Guardian, Wendy Huynh continues her series Portraits of East and South-East Asian Women on behalf of Libération.

The series focuses on women across France, presenting an honest and joyful picture of the community, of which Wendy is also a proud member. She says:

"It’s been a year since I pitched to the Guardian a series of portraits of ESEA women, in the midst of a pandemic and the rise of Asian hate. I was angry and frustrated by these racist events towards the community, it’s stigmatisation and moreover it's lack of representation. "

"Being able to portray Asian women and talk about these issues was the start of an ongoing work and process of representing and celebrating us, Asian people."
