In ongoing personal project, Currents, Gilleam explores his evolving relationship with his birthplace of Curaçao. Returning regularly to the island where he grew up, the work examines the complexity of Caribbean identity, coming of age, and the legacy of colonialism, in a location loaded with symbolism and shaped by Western influence.
